The EDA University Center for Economic Development and Innovation is hosting a workshop featuring; (1) an interactive session applying the fundamentals of how to lead and manage innovation as a “system” that delivers increased speed and decreased risk and (2) a tour of the Innovation Center with a 3D printer prototyping demonstration, a Google Glass demo, and projects including animation and green screen applications.

Experience the New Way of Thinking about Innovation. This workshop will provide a sampling of the basics on how to CREATE, COMMUNICATE, & COMMERCIALIZE Meaningfully Unique Ideas.

CREATE: In this session, you learn the new mindset that creates a 6x increase in the number of high quality ideas versus classic “brainstorming.” It features a special focus on how to maximize learning from customer insights, marketplace benchmarking, technology and future mining and how to leverage a collaboration mindset to create an exponential increase in effectiveness when accelerating Meaningfully Unique ideas.

COMMUNICATE: This session transforms how you look at innovation projects. It’s a thinking approach that doubles your odds of success by turning sales and marketing into a customer pull system. It also provides a simple way for defining ideas so that everyone - from front line worker to the CEO - can speak the same language.

COMMERCIALIZE: This session is a transformation in how to reduce innovation risk. Instead of the fallback approach of plan, study, study, study, you will learn the new Fail FAST Fail CHEAP™ approach. It’s a modern and accelerated version of the classic Deming learning cycle of “Plan, Do, Study, Act” applied to innovation.

Innovation Engineering Workshops are taught using the Cycles to Mastery™ teaching system. It’s a system of learning that has been found in University research to be 4 times more effective than classic training programs. Quantitatively, the Workshops cover about 20% of the skills that are taught in the full Innovation Engineering Black Belt program.

The workshops involve a series of DIGITAL Classes that are watched in advance of the in person LAB and APPLICATION Classes. LAB Classes drive deeper understanding through case study examples. APPLICATION Classes begin the process of applying the learning to your company situation.
